KARACHI: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) leader Faisal Vawda was arrested by police on Wednesday evening for organising a rally on Shahra-e-Faisal.
The rally on Shahra-e-Faisal, which is a major thoroughfare and connects the city to the airport, caused immense inconvenience to the public.
“Police has arrested Faisal Vawda and booked him,” said DSP Airport Iftikhar Lodhi.
A First Information Report (FIR) has been registered against the PTI leader on complaint of airport police station SHO.
The police have invoked sections 341 (wrongful restraint) and 34 (common intention) of Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) against him, added the officer.
Earlier in August, Faisal Vawda's vehicle came under fire in the Delhi Colony area of the city, local media reported.
Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah took notice of the incident and requested a report from Inspector-General Police (IGP) A.D. Khawaja.
