PTI Lakki Marwat District President Saleem Nawaz Khan, former PTI candidate for PK-76 constituency Engr Arif Marwat and Noor Zaman, personal assistant to MNA Ayesha Gulalai, submitted the complaint along with some documents to the NAB Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The complaint was filed under the title “Embezzlement/Corruption in the provincial development schemes.”
“The PTI MNA on the women reserved seat Ayesha Gulalai and her father Shamsul Qayyum are found involved in embezzlement and corruption in various provincial development schemes and this needs to be investigated on priority basis. In this regard documentary proof/evidence are attached with the complaint,” the PTI local leaders said in their complaint.
On the other hand, the NAB Khyber Pakhtunkhwa through a press release said that it is mandated to investigate any person on allegation of corruption and corrupt practices under National Accountability Ordinance, 1999.
It stated that NAB receives scores of complaints every day alleging different offences by individuals.
“Each complaint is handled as per procedure prescribed in law. Every complaint is scrutinised by complaint officers and discussed in complaint scrutiny meetings held twice every week in the chairmanship of Brig Farooq Naser Awan, director general NAB Khyber Pakhtunkhwa,” the statement said. It added that in these meetings, allegations enumerated in the complaint are discussed and decisions are taken according to law in consultation with the prosecution teams.
It noted that the complaint against Ayesha Gulalai, Member National Assembly (MNA), is a routine matter and it will be processed as per law.
The PTI local leaders also submitted the same complaint to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ehtesab Commission requesting it to launch a probe against Ayesha Gulalai.
When contacted, one of the complainants Noor Zaman claimed that he was the personal assistant of Ayesha Gulalai and had filed the complaint to the NAB because she is an MNA.
To a question, he told The News that they also made the same complaint to the KP Ehtesab Commission because it embezzlement was done in the provincial government schemes.
However, Noor Zaman could not give a satisfactory reply when asked why he and others did not raise the issue of corruption against the party MNA before her press conference accusing the PTI chairman Imran Khan of sending inappropriate messages to her.
Another complainant, Saleem Khan said that they got the proof that Ayesha Gulalai was getting commission and was embezzling funds after her press conference as the evidence was brought by her personal assistant Noor Zaman.
The complainants claimed that she had embezzled and received commission totalling more than Rs12 million either herself or through her father in various development schemes in Bannu and Karak districts.
