A Batman impersonator known for visiting sick children was fatally struck by his own 'Batmobile' after another driver smashed into the vehicle.
Leonard Robinson was checking the engine of the black Lamborghini after it broke down on Sunday night on a Maryland highway when the crash happened.
The vehicle, which had come to a stop in the fast lane of the eastbound I-70 , was hit by a Toyota Camry, whose driver was unhurt.
Mr Robinson, 51, was known for travelling in his costume to hospitals in the Baltimore-Washington area.
In 2012 a dashcam video showing police pulling him over in his Batmobile went viral.The man behind the mask had made a fortune after selling a cleaning business he started as a teenager, and decided to use the money for good.
He reportedly spent more than $25,000 (£16,000) of his own money every year on Batman toys for sick children.
The divorcee began visiting hospitals in 2001, sometimes with his son, Brandon, playing the superhero's sidekick, Robin.
Hope For Henry, a charity for children battling cancer, paid tribute to Mr Robinson in a statement.
Spokesperson Laurie Strongin said: "He made so many kids so happy. When I asked him to do anything, he always said yes."
