Former US President George W Bush has said he and wife Laura are "overjoyed" to welcome their second grandchild into the family.
Poppy was born to his daughter Jenna Bush Hager, 33, and her husband in New York on Thursday.
"We consider her an honorary Texan," the former Texas governor said in a statement. "We are grateful to God."
The baby girl is named after Ms Hager's grandfather, former President George H W Bush, who was called Poppy as a child.
Ms Hager, an NBC News correspondent, told the network her grandfather "got very emotional" upon learning the child's name.
The newest addition to the Bush clan weighed in at 7lb 9oz and measured 20.5in (52cm) in length, according to NBC's Today show.
The proud mother and her 37-year-old private equity executive husband, Henry, also have a two-year-old daughter.
She is named Margaret Laura after her grandmothers.
The couple wed in 2008 at her parents' Texas ranch.
