A new study by Social Psychological and Personality Science from the University of Auchland in New Zealand found that it's possible to be just as happy when you're single as you are when you're in a relationship, Pulse Headlines reports.
The study looked at over 4,000 adults in New Zealand once, and then again in a year, and found that one-fifth of them were single at both periods and the rest of them were either married, living with, or dating someone at one point, allowing them to see if their overall well-being had changed in that time.
So basically, if you avoid conflict in your life, you could be happier when you're single if the people you tend to choose for relationship partners are complicated drama queens. But if you tend to pick people who are also drama-free, you could be just as happy with or without someone to eat sushi and cuddle with. Plus, it's also a fist-bump for people who value intimacy because according to this study, you're not only happier single, you're even happier when you find someone rad to be with. Win-win.

What they found was that single people who try avoid conflict in relationships were just as happy as people who were coupled, and single people who wanted to enhance their intimacy levels with their loved ones were not only happier in general because they did that, but even more so when they were in a relationship.
